'Showa no sakae' has showy, full double, peony-shaped flowers 3-4 inches wide, in lavender tones in great profusion October-January. Grows 3-4 feet tall and 6-8 feet wide.
Glossy green leaves are evergreen all winter long. Part sun to dappled shade. 1 gallon pot from a grower in North Carolina.
Camellias must have acidic, well-drained soil and be planted high (trunk base is well above the soil line). Mulch to keep roots cool.
